REPORT ON THE SESSION: DRAG TO POINT
On the 1st day of the Management Orientation Module (MOM), Dr M. Kethan conducted an informative session designed to acclimate students to the PGDM curriculum.
He commenced the session by providing an overview of the PGDM programme’s course structure, which students will encounter each Trimester. He detailed the various specialisations offered by the College, thus giving students a comprehensive understanding of their academic options. Subsequently, he explained the examination and evaluation scheme in depth. He underscored the critical role of attendance and internal assessments in the overall evaluation process, elucidating the breakdown of internal marks components.
A key component of the PGDM programme involves an internship after the third trimester. Students are required to submit an internship report to the department, followed by a viva voce. In the Sixth trimester, students will undertake their final master’s thesis, which will also be subject to a viva voce. Both the internship and thesis evaluations will be conducted by the college, which includes credit allocation.
He also highlighted that alongside the PGDM curriculum, students will participate in the IIBS Finishing School curriculum, which operates concurrently. This supplementary curriculum includes a range of modules and activities such as the Management Orientation Module (MOM), Industry Blended Learning, effective communication sessions, IFS Certification programmes (SAP, Bloomberg Terminal, Harvard Publishing), mentoring at four levels, various club activities, rural and global immersion programmes, talent exhibitions, and other experiential learning opportunities specifically tailored for PGDM students.
The session was concluded with a question-and-answer segment, allowing students to clarify their queries. Overall, it was a highly informative session that provided students with a thorough understanding of their academic journey and the additional opportunities available to them.
